Our Story

A Taste of Italy, Made in Manila

Born to an Italian father and a Filipina mother, Katia Benassi-de Guzman grew up enjoying tiramisu cakes in the small Italian town of Massa, Tuscany — where the dessert was simply known as "mascarpone cake" and lovingly made by Italian nonnas.

Her family's recipe traveled with them to Manila. The cake first found its audience at the Benassi family's Italian restaurant in Ortigas. Even after the restaurant closed, the craving never left. When an influencer discovered it at a gathering, orders surged — and Mascarpone Cake By Benassi was born online in 2019.

Today, Katia still personally sources ingredients from Italy and makes most orders herself. Featured in Tatler PH, Rappler, and When In Manila — it remains exactly what it has always been: nonna's recipe, unchanged.
